Mary SwanThe Croatian Collection Mary Swan was born Mary Matutinovich to Dalmatian parents who had immigrated to New Zealand in the early 1900s. She grew up in Dargaville, immersed in the 'Dally' culture during the time that it was being absorbed into the rapidly evolving Kiwi lifestyle that we know today. In 1997 she had the opportunity to visit her relatives in Croatia and where she was greatly inspired to paint many Dalmatian scenes, mostly the coastal villages of that region. She hopes to publish some of these works for the Dalmatian community in Auckland.
